Fire Door Surveys
Anyone managing or responsible for a building has to ensure that the fire doors are in good and effective working order.

Are you confident your doors will perform in the event of fire?
Many fire doors are not subject to regular maintenance and assessment like they should be, and if they are damaged their integrity will be compromised and they may not perform as expected. It is essential that they are inspected and maintained to ensure compliance with relevant Fire Safety Legislation.
From our experience we understand that many Maintenance Departments within businesses don’t have the time it takes be undertake Fire Door Surveys alongside their other work and some do not have the relevant qualifications to conduct this particular type of survey. But there should be a clear maintenance and repair programme in place and we can help you achieve this.
What is the purpose of a Fire Door?
- A fire door is there to hold back fire and smoke to ensure the means of escape can be safely and effectively used during a fire.
- Fire doors also slow the spread of fire which can reduce the amount of damage a building suffers during a fire.
Inadequate or poorly maintained fire doors can lead to loss of life and are one of the main breaches of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (for which fines can be levied).
How should a fire door be maintained?
- They should be surveyed by a competent person at regular intervals.
- Any problems found in the Fire Door Survey should be fixed/repaired or doors replaced if necessary, by a competent person.
A competent person in this instance should know what is required of fire doors and their specification and how all the components work (in terms of preventing fire spread) and how they should be fitted to the door to maintain the doors integrity as a fire door. Our team are fully qualified to assess and maintain fire doors.
